The Impreza has been the cornerstone of Subaru's success, and it's receiving a complete facelift for the 2017 model year. The all new 2017 Subaru Impreza is getting a handful of upgrades in safety and performance that look to put the new Impreza on top. The new Impreza returns in the two base configurations, the sedan and the hatchback that both get their fair share of new upgrades.

As a minor historical note, the new 2017 Subaru Impreza will be the first US built Impreza as it's built at the Subaru Indiana Automotive factory. The changes to the 2017 Subaru Impreza is the first in the Impreza lineup to include the new Subaru Global Platform standard. This standard will apply to all new Imprezas and raise the performance bar to a new level.

Highlights of the 2017 Subaru Impreza

Exterior - The sweeping upgrades to the all new Impreza promise to shift the focus towards performance, especially on the outside of the vehicle. These upgrades to the 2017 Subaru Impreza exterior will improve aerodynamics and overall appearance, with a heavily sculpted body line. Heavily redesigned front fascia and headlights give the new Impreza an aggressive and crisp appearance. The front grille is now a centered by a hexagonal section, paired on either side by a set of hawk-eye headlights. 

The looks of the new Impreza aren't the only things that make the boxer stand out. The Impreza will also feature the very best in Subaru's Global Platform standard. Upgraded suspension components will provide positive feedback and improve the drive of the sporty sedan. Stronger components in the frame and chassis give the 2017 Subaru Impreza a superior platform for performance.

Interior - Not only will the new Impreza look the handle the part, the interior also receives a complete makeover as well. Luckily for Subaru fans, the improvements to the chassis and suspension lessen road noise and vibration. The architecture for the new Impreza, allowing Subaru to set a new standard for eliminating vibration and harshness from inside the car.


In addition to these upgrades, the 2017 Subaru Impreza will also get changes to the infotainment system inside the cabin. Fully Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible, the new Impreza also incorporates Starlink Safety and Security features in the Premium trims. The Sport models will also come with stiffer suspension as well as larger rims and premium sound as well. 

Performance - Returning for the 2017 Subaru Impreza is the iconic 2.0 liter EJ boxer engine. Now flexing direct fuel injection technology, the new Impreza will come with 152 horsepower, an increase of 4 horsepower from the previous generation. Available in four distinct trims, the 2017 Subaru Impreza will be offered with the Lineratronic CVT automatic seven speed ratio. 

Power is sent to Subaru's legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. With a higher standard of performance and safety, the 2017 Subaru Impreza also includes features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure as well.
